Molly Flynn* (Cade) - first corps year 1964

 

Molly Cade - Of Prior Lake, MN 'Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother & Friend' After a courageous 5 1/2 year battle with ovarian cancer, Molly Cade, 54, found peace and eternal life on December 3, 2003. Born in Des Moines, Molly was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy (1967) and The College of St. Catherine (1970). She taught for 17 years, most recently at St. Michael's Catholic School in Prior Lake, MN. After being diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Molly founded and spearheaded the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance, Inc. (MOCA) which, in five short years, has become one of the most successful, dynamic state organizations in the country. MOCA unites women, their families, the medical community, and the public to recognize and fight ovarian cancer. She was also a director of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance in Washington, D.C. Following the tragic death of her husband, (John Cade) in a plane crash, Molly served as director of Cade Industries, Inc. for 14 years. She was also director of the Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield (MN), the Menominee Catholic Education Foundation (MI), the Marinette Catholic Central Foundation (WI), First Northern Savings and Loan and member of the University of Minnesota Cancer Center Community Advisory Board. Last September, Molly was inducted into the Volunteer Hall of Fame by Mpls. St. Paul Magazine and was honored as a Champion of Health by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota in 2001. She was also inducted into the Teacher Hall of Fame (1994) and named one of Prior Lake's Outstanding Citizens (2001). Molly was preceded in death by her parents, Connor and Dorothy Flynn, and her first husband, John. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Cade (John's brother); children Kristin (Greg) Carlson, Julie (Chris) Nelson, Brian (Stephanie) and Kevin Cade; stepdaughters Megan & Molly Cade; grandchildren Cory, Casey and Cade Carlson and Kayla and Michael Nelson; brothers Connor and Patrick Flynn; sisters Katie Jensen and Peggy De Gance; in-laws Roy and Margaret Cade; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends, including more than 1,400 MOCA survivors. Mass, followed by Christian Burial, will take place 11AM Monday, Dec. 8th at ST. MICHAEL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Prior Lake (16311 Duluth Ave SE); visitation will be held from 4-7PMP, Sunday, December 7th at ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH.
